Almandin

Almandin, 2016 Melbourne Cup winner. And wow, what a brilliant finish it was! Given a beautiful ride by Kerrin McEvoy, the dual between he and Joao Moreira on Heartbreak City produced one of the most exciting finishes in recent years. The win was made even more significant given the injuries Almandin had to overcome in order to salute on the first Tuesday in November.

I love painting Cup winners and this bloke was no exception. This is a hand signed, fine art Giclee print of my digital illustration of 2016 Melbourne Cup winner Almandin. It is printed on a lightly textured, 100% cotton rag matt paper. It was painted on a MacPro using my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet.
